VISITING TANZANIA: WHICH VARIABLES AFFECT THE PRICE?

How many times have you wondered: "I'd love to go on a safari and experience Tanzania, but it's too expensive a trip for me."?
FALSE.
Anyone can reach Tanzania. It's just a matter of setting it up well.

First of all, it is very important for us to make you understand, that there are significant variables that strongly affect the final cost.
The price of a trip, especially for a Safari, can vary a lot if you change:

• the year period (for further information on the best period to experience Tanzania, please see our When is the best time to visit Tanzania page): if in high season (especially in February, July, August), or in low season (especially in December, January, March, September, October);
• the type of lodging (for further information on the Lodges we have picked, and feel we can recommend having tested them in person and having already been appreciated by several of our customers, please see our page Where to stay in Tanzania): if Hotel, medium or high level Lodge or tented Camp. This is probably the variable that most affects the final cost;
• the accommodation: for example, in a single, double, double with an extra bed or triple room, with or without room service;
• the treatment: if B&B, half board or full board;
• the duration of the trip: one day more, or less, can make a difference;
• the number of people, which helps in sharing the daily fixed costs (the vehicle and tour guide). Travelling in a group of 4 or even 6, instead of two, allows savings of up to 20% per person;
• the number and type of Parks you tour (take into consideration that even the mere journey through one Park to get to another, implies the payment of an entrance tax fee);
• the included experiences (activities) or the optional tours;
• the internal flights (e.g. in case of special transfers or overnight stay in Zanzibar, or on islands, before or after a Safari).

The final cost may often seem a little high.
But that's not necessarily true.

This is why we think it is very important for you to know:
WHAT SERVICES ARE INCLUDED IN THE TRIP PRICE?

• the exclusive use of a Jeep Toyota 4X4 Land Cruiser with 5 or 7 seats (depending on the number of passengers, you can use one or more vehicles) which is registered at the Tourist Office in Tanzania and constantly inspected;
• the exclusive use of an experienced professional guide ;
• transfers by car to and from the airport and Hotel, Lodge, tented Camp;
• overnight stays;
• meals (breakfast, picnic box lunch, dinner);
• water for dinner.
• sealed bottled water (also fresh), always available on the Jeep during the day, for the whole duration of the Safari;
• fuel costs for unlimited kilometers;
• entrance and overnight stay tax fees in the parks;
• venturing at least one local village and one Maasai village.

HOW MUCH DO PRIVATE TANZANIAN SAFARI TOURS COST?

In consideration of what we previously mentioned, we classified the types of private trips we offer (with exclusive Jeep use), and we divided them into 5 categories with five different price ranges:

• ECONOMY (Lodge or simple Tented Camp): average price starting from 465 USD per person, per day (excluding the arrival day).
• COMFORT (Lodge and/or Semi-permanent Tented Camp 2-3*): average price from 515 USD per person, per day (excluding the arrival day).
• SUPERIOR (Lodge and/or Semi-permanent Tented Camp 3-4*): average price from 580 USD per person, per day (excluding the arrival day).
• ELEGANT (Lodge and/or Semi-permanent Tented Camp 4-5*): average price from 680 USD per person, per day (excluding the arrival day).
• LUXURY (Lodge and/or Semi-permanent Tented Camp 5*): average price over 760 USD per person, per day (excluding the arrival day).

For example:

• an 4-day (3 nights) PRIVATE (Jeep is for exclusive use) Short Safari in Serengeti Park and Ngorongoro Crater can cost approximately 2,750 USD per person in a double room (READ THE DAY BY DAY DETAILED PROGRAM);
• an 6-day (5 nights) PRIVATE (Jeep is for exclusive use) Safari in the best parks of Northern Tanzania can cost approximately 3,150 USD per person in a double room (READ THE DAY BY DAY DETAILED PROGRAM);
• an 8-day (7 nights) PRIVATE (Jeep is for exclusive use) Safari in the Northern Parks in search of Africa's "Big Five" and in discovery of the Maasai can cost approximately 4,700 USD per person in a double room (READ THE DAY BY DAY DETAILED PROGRAM).

PLEASE NOTE: the 5 price ranges are based on Safaris for 2 adults in a Jeep for exclusive use, calculated on a 12 months per year average, excluding flights. In the case of 4, or even 7 people in the same Jeep, prices can be reduced by up to 20% less per person. Children and/or teenagers (under 15), enjoy discounted prices.

GROUP SAFARIS (ideal for those travelling in a COUPLE or ALONE)

Considering the many requests, we also thought about organizing group trips to give everyone the opportunity to experience Tanzania.
This way, it is possible to divide the fixed costs among several people (for example, the guide and the vehicle price), thus guaranteeing the absolute lowest price per person. The result is travelling in COMFORT class at the same, or even lower, price than the ECONOMY class for a "tailor-made" Private Tour.
The booking request can be sent online, directly from the page of each Tour.
Group Tanzanian tours do not preclude and do not intend to change the travel philosophy that has always distinguished Tanzania Private Tours.
