After lunch, you will leave the Park of Tarangire and head to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) to take your domestic flight to Zanzibar (operated by Air Tanzania, departure at 07:40 p.m.).

During the transfer, if you wish, you can stop for an optional visit of the spice plantations that have made the island famous.
Overnight stay in the historical center (2 nights, B&B treatment).

Day 14 - OPEN DAY TO EXPERIENCE STONE TOWN OR SEA ACTIVITIES

Open day to visit the city (optional).
Stone Town, also known as Stone City or White City, is the charming old town of the capital of Zanzibar. Located along the southwest coast of the island, it was founded in 1830 as a small fishing village and became the capital of the sultanate of Oman 10 years later and a British colony afterwards. The succession of dominations is visible in the colonial palaces and the many Arab, Persian and Indian elements which enrich the city’s architecture.
For an in-depth visit of Stone Town one day is enough. Tourists usually arrive from the hotels on the coast, taking part in an arranged afternoon trip, and leave the city at sunset, in time to dine at their hotels. However, it is interesting to spend a night on site to better enjoy the city’s charm and to visit the area with more peace of mind.
Stone Town is to be discovered by walking through the maze of narrow streets and alleys, inaccessible to cars, where refined buildings, mosques and even Hindu temples are hidden.
Here is a list of things not to be missed: the House of Wonders, the old buildings and their gates, the Darajani Market, the Arab Fort, the Forodhani Gardens, an aperitif at the Africa House.

Overnight stay.

OPTIONAL activity: Blue Safari excursion.
During the day, you will have the opportunity to:
  • spend a fantastic day in the famous Menai Bay Conservation area, aboard a typical Dhow (wood sailing boat, peculiar of Zanzibar);
  • go snorkeling in crystal clear waters;
  • spot dolphins in the bay;
  • have a fresh fish lunch on a white sand atoll;
  • swim in the mangrove lagoon.

OPTIONAL activities: visit Nakupenda beach.
During the day, you can visit Nakupenda beach (which means "I love you” in Kiswahili), an extremely white sand bank that emerges from the sea when the tide is low.

OPTIONAL activity: Prison Island tour.
During the morning, you may want to visit Prison Island (also known as Changuu Island), where you can also see the famous giant turtles before diving for some snorkeling.
Picnic lunch on the beach (optional).
After lunch, return to Stone Town.

Overnight stay.

Day 15 – TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT AND DEPARTURE

In the morning, a Tanzania Private Tours employee will bring you to Stone Town International Airport in order for you to take your intercontinental return flight (time to be determined).
Enjoy your trip.
